New owner at the helm of local writing and marketing shop
Lakeville, MN – The Write Place, Inc., is pleased to announce new ownership. Longtime Manager Alexis Thomas recently purchased the company from Founder Carol Van Klompenburg. Thomas began her career with the publishing and design agency—which has offices in Lakeville and Pella, Iowa—in 2005. She holds degrees in both Public Relations and Communication Design from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
“When I joined the Write Place after graduating, I was grateful to have found a role that allowed me to do all the things I loved: writing, graphic design and project management,” said Thomas. “The chance to shape our team, products and services over the years has been fulfilling, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue serving our clients and grow the business as its owner.”
“Lexie has very capably managed the Write Place for the past six years, and I am glad she has decided to take the step of becoming its owner. She is exactly the right person for the job,” said Van Klompenburg.
The Write Place serves both businesses and authors with a wide range of writing and marketing services. Van Klompenburg founded the company as a one-woman writing service in 1995. Its strong roots in newsletters soon led to expansion. The agency now provides services in layout, logo development, branding, online content and website design. Its business clients range in size from large corporations, to mid-sized manufacturers, to small companies.
“For some businesses, we provide writing and graphic support for a department or two. For others, we handle all aspects of their print and online marketing strategy, graphic design and content creation,” explained Thomas.
In 2005, the Write Place branched into the book publishing industry. Since then, the company has helped authors self-publish more than 100 books. “Many of our authors are from the Midwest, but we’ve also worked with authors from New York, California, Mississippi and Mexico,” said Thomas.
Thomas continued, “The Write Place has always been centered around building relationships with our clients and authors, so we fully understand how the skills and services we offer will help them achieve their communication goals. As a small business, we are uniquely flexible and adapt quickly to meet the variety of writing and design-related needs our clients bring to us.”
The Write Place team will continue to operate from two locations. It is headquartered in Pella, while Thomas works from Lakeville.
